RELEASE OF POTA DETAINEES

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has been making consistent and sincere efforts for the release of Pota detainees. Maulana Asad Madani, president Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and General Secretary, Maulana Mahmood Madani had called on the ruling class to convey them that the draconian law of Pota violates the fundamental rights. They called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Home Minister Shri Shivraj Patil for drawing their attention to the plight of the Pota detainees. In this regard Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has replied to the letter written by Maulana As’ad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind. It proves that the Pota has been grossly misused as a result of which many innocent persons have been languishing behind the bar. The text of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi letter is hereunder.
