J & K Earthquake Rehabilitation Project by Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind presents practical solution to the problem of rehabilitation of families uprooted by earthquake in J&K's cold, snowy and hilly region. Description of Jamiat houses as follows: } Low cost prefab houses made of rectangular hollow iron pipe structure, corrugated tin sheet exterior and plywood interior } Light weight 8'x 8' Panels } Can be easily transported and assembled any where in Kashmir within few hours } 100% earthquake proof } Suitable for cold, snowy and rainy weather } Size of each house 16'x12' consisting of 1 living room, kitchen and bath } Can be easily dismantled and rearranged to make two rooms
a Project of installation of 100 such houses at Jamiat Nagar, Salamabad (Uri) commenced on 11th December, 2005 and scheduled to be completed before 31st December, 2005. a Another project of 100 such houses scheduled to commence soon at Boniar (Uri). a Rehab. plan for Tangdar to be announced soon.
